Menorah Byzantine period
5-6th century C.E.

Jewish Symbols such as the seven-branched menorah, the shofar, the lulav, and the etrog were common decorative motifs during the Byzantine era. They appear on mosaic floors in synagogues, architectural stone elements, and on small objects such as oil lamps, seals, and amulets.

The design is adapted from the ornamentation on an ancient oil lamp found in the Jerusalem area.
